Your books should tell you which jobs make money — and which ones don't.

Full Cycle CPA gives construction companies and trades businesses the financial reporting, job costing visibility, and controller-level support they need to make better decisions and grow with confidence.

Best fit for construction and trades businesses doing $2M–$100M+ in revenue with growing complexity, inconsistent reporting, or no clear finance function.

Who We Serve

Built for Contractors and Trades Businesses

We work with companies where the accounting needs to keep pace with what's happening in the field — not lag behind months on end.

Industries

  • General contractors
  • Subcontractors and specialty trades
  • Civil and infrastructure contractors
  • Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades
  • Construction-adjacent service businesses
  • Owner-managed companies with operational complexity

Common situations

  • Monthly financials arrive late or don't make sense
  • Job costing exists but doesn't tie to reality
  • No visibility into cash flow until something breaks
  • Outgrowing the current bookkeeper or doing it in-house
  • Need management reporting, not just compliance work
  • Want a finance function without hiring a full-time controller
What Makes Us Different

We Build Finance Functions, Not Just Close the Month

Most accounting firms hand you financials after the fact. We build the processes, reporting, and visibility that connect your books to real business decisions — while they still matter.

Construction-First

We understand holdbacks, progress billing, WIP, and job costing because that's what we do every day. Your accountant shouldn't need a crash course in how your business works.

Operations, Not Just Compliance

We go beyond year-end tax prep. Our work focuses on the monthly close, reporting cadence, and financial processes that let you manage your business with clear numbers.

Reporting That Drives Decisions

Every report we produce is designed to be read and used — by you, your project managers, and your banker. If a report doesn't influence a decision, it's probably not worth producing.

Services

Three Levels of Support, One Clear Goal

Whether you need clean books or a full finance function, we build the right level of support around your business — and scale it as you grow.

01

Foundation

Reliable books, every month.

The core operational accounting your business needs to run on solid ground. Clean financials, on time, with no surprises at year-end.

  • Full-cycle bookkeeping
  • Monthly close and reconciliations
  • GST/HST filing and compliance
  • AP and AR management
  • Payroll support
  • Clean, accurate financial statements
02

Job Cost & Reporting

See what every job actually costs.

For contractors who need to track profitability at the job level — not just the company level. Built around the realities of construction accounting.

  • Job costing setup and maintenance
  • WIP schedule and holdback tracking
  • Progress billing support
  • Cost-to-complete and margin reporting
  • Management reporting packages
  • Estimated vs. actual variance analysis
03

Controller-Level Support

A finance function without the full-time hire.

Strategic financial support for businesses that need more than bookkeeping — cash flow visibility, forecasting, and a seat at the table when decisions get made.

  • 13-week cash flow forecasting
  • Budgeting and financial planning
  • KPI dashboards and reporting
  • AP/AR oversight and process design
  • Systems and workflow improvement
  • Ongoing advisory support
Outcomes

What Better Accounting Actually Gets You

The real value isn't in the debits and credits. It's in what you can do when your numbers are right.

Financials you trust

Reports that match your bank, make sense to your team, and are ready when you need them.

Margin visibility by job

Know which jobs make money and which ones don't — while they're still running, not after they close.

Fewer surprises

No more scrambling at year-end. No more unexpected tax bills. No more guessing at your cash position.

Smoother month-end

A predictable close process that doesn't eat a week of your time or require chasing down receipts.

Cash flow clarity

See what's coming in, what's going out, and where the pinch points are — weeks in advance.

Numbers that support decisions

Reporting designed for the people who run the business, not just the people who audit it.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We handle the operational accounting that keeps your construction business running — bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, job costing, WIP reporting, progress billing, and monthly financial reporting. Think of us as the accounting team behind your business, making sure your numbers are accurate, up to date, and actually useful for making decisions. We're not a tax firm — we're focused on giving you clear financial visibility every month of the year.
We work best with construction companies and trades businesses doing $2M to $100M+ in annual revenue. If you've outgrown basic bookkeeping but aren't ready (or don't want) a full in-house finance team, you're likely a great fit. Whether you're a framing crew running five projects or a general contractor managing large commercial builds, we scale our support to match what your business actually needs.
Absolutely. While we have deep experience with QuickBooks Online and Xero, we also work with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and the broader Microsoft 365 stack. If you're on a different platform, we're happy to discuss whether it makes sense to keep what you have or move to something that better supports your business as it grows.
Yes. Many of our engagements start with a cleanup — getting your books in order, reconciling months of backlog, fixing chart of accounts issues, or sorting out job costing that's fallen behind. Once the foundation is solid, we can transition into ongoing monthly support. We also take on project-based work like system implementations, process design, and financial reporting buildouts.
No — tax preparation and filing isn't our focus. We specialize in operational accounting: the monthly bookkeeping, reporting, and financial management that happens throughout the year. That said, the work we do makes tax season far easier for your tax accountant. Clean books, accurate job costing, and well-organized records mean fewer surprises and lower year-end fees. We're happy to work alongside your existing tax advisor.
